Let’s be honest more than often we have used profanity such as the n-word as terms of endearment. The terms are used in the media, music and it’s not considered a big deal when someone says it. Hey, it describes a person, place or thing right? But something we all fail to realize is that using these terms in a joking manner and brushing it off when someone says it to us, we then start to internalize those exact same words. If someone calls you a n***a in an angry sense, it means ignorant, uneducated, and disrespectful and the negative meanings go on. When someone calls you a b***h in a negative way it means angry, coward, nasty, you get the point. So even though the terms can be used in a joking way, why call each other these words which have such negative connotations. Especially when speaking to younger kids. We don’t want them to become those words. We especially don’t want them to continue the cycle either. Why not start a brand new cycle, which pros certainly outweigh the cons.
Now here we have the words King and Queen. Let’s take in those words in for a little. Did anything negative come to mind? How did they make you feel internally? How did it make you feel on the outside? For me personally those words make me feel like I can take over the world, took me back to images of my ancestors, and reminded me of strength, power and beauty. So why not join the movement. Why not call each other Kings and Queens especially our younger children. No more joking around. Let’s embrace this movement, became what you were destined to be; Kings and Queens.
Beautiful job young queen!
ReplyDeleteThanks Queen!!
ReplyDeleteI love the movement towards using King/ Queen when referring to each other. It's positive and uplifting and it is just overall pleasant to hear. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback King:)
ReplyDeleteReally liked this article. I Def. Refused to use to King and Queen jargon because I figured it was a melodramatic expression of conceit and "materialism" that many in my culture unduly exude. With that said, I think when channeled with appropriateness these words as explained in the blog can have a magnificently positive effect. I will be using them moving forward, in context and with appropriateness of course.
