Let's just say as soon as I walked through the doors of the finale fashion show for Full Figured Fashion Week I LIVED!!! Between door men and women dressed in suits with bow-ties, the red carpet, the lights, the beautiful displays and cameras flashing; it was surreal. And as you scanned the room you seen full-figured woman after full-figured woman dressed to the nines, hairs laid, make up beat and outfits on point!!

 Models Ripping the Runway

I have never felt more alive, more inspired and more at home in my life. I was so proud that this event was fussing all over "us", the full-figured women that I am proud to be a part of. Witnessing those models rip the runway in perfectly fitting pieces, each having different figures and flattering styles. These women were confident and just thriving in all of the attention that they were getting and doing so with such style and grace.

There were over 10 designers who participated in the fashion show. Including Shanda Style, Ego Boutique, Fashion to Figure, Tru Diva Designs and Modamix, just to name a few. Two of my favorite designers from the show were Ice Cream Lady Hosiery and Duke N Dutchess! Kenneth Doswell of Betty Jean Couture received Designer of the Year and he truly deserved it; his clothes were beautiful.

All of the honorees had such encouraging and uplifting words when receiving their Industry Awards. Some winners include Simply Be who won Retailer of the Year, Alissa Wilson of Stylish Curves won Fashion Blog of the Year and Wyinnetka Aaron won Model of the Year. When Erika Watson received her award for Entertainer of the Year, her speech almost made me fall out in laughter. She was saying she remembered a time when every big girl at a party would have on that same leopard print dress from Ashley Stewart. But now we have so many great stores and designers to choose from, that seeing someone else in your dress isn't as common.

Rocking my Glitter Lips! I got so many compliments!

It was just such a pleasure. When I left the fashion show I felt like "Keyonce" honey. I wanted to get naked and run in the streets and say ‘I'm fat and I love it’. I am so much more confident today than I was before I attended the event. When Icon of the Year, Audrey Smaltz gave her speech she said ‘you are special because you have something that every woman does not have. And that’s confidence. You know who you are and you like who you are and like what you see". Those words made me love myself that much more. I had confidence but it’s different in loving everything about yourself every curve, every inch, every flaw.

I am now inspired to attend more events that cater to the full-figured woman. I love to attend events that honor women period. However, this was different, it’s encouraging to belong to a community of women that have the same thing in common as you and can relate to you on a different level. I encourage every plus size woman to do so as well. I want to spread my confidence and soak up the confidence of other women that I admire.
