I love shopping small and online businesses. Following bloggers on social media has exposed me to a lot of small business internet sites. Rue 107, Custom Plus, ZelieforShe, Monif C., Nakimuli and PopUpPlusNY. There are also many overseas businesses that we can only shop online for such as ASOS, Boo Hoo Chic, New Look, SimplyBe, and Eloquii. Most I listed are plus size websites but some sell straight sizes as well so make sure to check them out!

Shopping online from small and overseas businesses allows you to have unique pieces that you may not see someone else wearing. You may also come across styles that are not attainable if you look for it in retail stores. I enjoy buying things I may not see someone else wear. I love to support small businesses for this reason and as long as they're producing great quality pieces. I especially enjoy supporting the black owned businesses.

Sure they're limitations to shopping online or buying from small business such as not being able to try on items or having to pre-order because of production or the item selling out quickly because only a limited number were produced. However, that’s just the risk you take and hopefully it will pay off.

Also sizing is another issue, however, most designers or websites provide accurate measurements and size charts. Pay good attention to measurements as well as the item description and material info. If that’s still not good enough for you, ask questions. Most small and online businesses are very attentive to their customers and are very informative about their product and will respond speedily. The only mishap I’ve ran into shopping overseas is the time difference and the lapse in time of responses.
