Philly's Own: MPRYNT

Remember when Motown Philly was back again? Or when you were asking people where da party at?”  Or even when someone was saying “baby won’t you just stay for a little whileor telling you how cupid doesn’t lie?  I definitely remember listening to all the popular boy bands while growing up.  A few weeks ago, I attended the Marsha Ambrosius:  Friends and Lover tour at the TLA and one of the opening acts were a male group called MPrynt. The group consists of 4 very talented young men from Philadelphia who have not only style but talent, swag, and some amazing voices.

I not only had the pleasure of seeing them perform at the show in Philadelphia, but again at a show in Norfolk, Virginia. Although they were out of their city/state, they made sure to show much love and respect to their hometown. They had the entire crowd rocking with them and singing along as they made renditions of classic songs by Boyz II Men, H-Town, Mint Condition, 112, and John Legend. I thoroughly enjoyed their performance from beginning to end. What I really like about these guys is that each member is vocally talented and unlike most singing groups, each member took turns singing lead. In addition to singing, the group enjoys songwriting and playing instruments as well.

MPrynt consists of Budda, Rael, Tyce & Faheem. They were all born and raised in Philadelphia (South West, West, South, & Mt. Airy) and range in age from 22-25. They are signed to Motown Records and are currently working on their first debut album.  MPrynt was one of the opening acts for the entire Marsha Ambrosius: Friends and Lovers tour for 2014 and they also had the pleasure of opening up for SWV at the Howard Theatre earlier this year. In addition, they have also performed at Sigma Sounds, World Café Life, Underground Arts, TLA, and a few other popular venues in Philadelphia.

Their fan webpage states that "the name MPrynt isn’t just a name…it’s a statement that embodies the type of unique impression and powerful impact they want their music to leave on the world forever!” (MPrynt). These guys remind me of a 2014 version of Boyz II Men. Each member brings their own individuality and talent to the group and they are also from Philadelphia and signed to Motown just like them.  Furthermore, I’m positive that they have exactly what it takes to follow in their footsteps but also be a new face for R&B. Tell me what you think!
