The Lovely, Talented, Sevyn Streeter

Sevyn Street Sevyn Streeter

When Sevyn Streeter reappeared on the music scene, I remembered her from the group RichGirl. They were gorgeous, with beautiful voices, decent dance moves, the full package. The lead singer reminded me of BeyoncĂ© because when I first seen the video I got excited thinking Destiny’s Child had got back together lol . Their song “He Ain’t Wit Me Now (Tho)” debuted in 2009 and still is my jam. When it comes on my phone, I have to catch myself from dippin it down low lol. Unfortunately, after 4 years together they broke up. Sevyn was also in the group TG4 when she was a teenager. You may have seen them perform at a Bow Wow and B2K concert. I’m so happy that Sevyn Streeter continued to follow her dreams and go solo because she can sinngggggg.

Sevyn Street is a singer/songwriter. She has written songs for Chris Brown, Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys and Estelle. Sevyn chose to branch out on her own and she got signed to Atlantic Records. Her first debut single was “I Like It”. Following that, her next hit was “It Won’t Stop” featuring Chris Brown. In May 2013, her EP “Call Me Crazy But…” came out and if you haven’t heard it yet, you’re missing out… I still have the EP on rotation.

I recently saw Sevyn Streeter in concert at Temple University Performing Arts Center on May 6th, 2014. I already knew that the girl can blow and I was hoping that she wouldn’t disappoint live. And she DID NOT, she exceeded my expectations. She came out in all Black; sheer bodysuit, shorts, fishnets, ankle boots and her hair was flowing. She started off with her hits “I Like”, then “BANS (Broke Ass N****s Sh*t), which she sung a cappella at the end. All the women who have been down that road with a man who did them really wrong definitely felt where she was coming from. Later on in the show, she covered songs by Rihanna, Keyshia Cole, Jhene Aiko and BeyoncĂ© which the crowd was really feeling. She then sang my favorite song by her, “Sex on The Ceiling”. She even bought a guy from the audience up on the stage and gave him a private (well, semi-private) dance; the guy tried his best not to touch lol.

She had a poppin intermission, where the DJ played old school songs like “Poison” and then she bought it back to the new school while her background dancers danced to “NaNa” and “Who Do You Love” by YG. She then came back out in a new outfit, looking trill, did a dance routine and killed it! Of course before the show was over she had to sing her hit “It Won’t Stop.” Overall, I really enjoyed her whole show… make sure to go see her next time she’s in your town. You won’t be disappointed!
