JAE had the pleasure of joining Ms. Brandi Aulston in her Zumba Sculpt class last Wednesday. Brandi had us moving and toning our bodies in such a fun way, using Zumba as a tool to get in shape. The class held about 13 of us fully energetic ladies ready for a workout. The atmosphere was so positive between us in the support and efforts of helping Brandi bring her vision of a healthier community to life. There were a variety of dance levels in the class ranging from virgin Zumbians to lifelong dancers but Brandi did such a superb job keeping everybody moving and engaged within their comfort level. I loved it.

Brandi Aulston is also a dear friend of mine and is such an inspiration to me on her Journey of Healthy Living. One of her accomplishments includes a Bachelors degree from Temple U. in Biology with a minor in Public Health. Brandi’s most fulfilling accomplishment was her own weight lost. She had a true eye opener at a Doctor’s weigh in, finding out she gained an astounding amount of weight over 5 years. She joined a challenge in her last semester of school and won it by losing an average of 2 pounds a week. Over 10 months, she lost 35 pounds. She also joined other group classes and workshops which got the attention of others who inspired her to become an instructor herself. And here she is, Brandi as we know her today with certifications in Group Fitness and Zumba. She also teaches toning and kickboxing classes at LA Fitness locations with plans to also teach a Boot Camp class in the Fall.

Brandi describes herself as kind and unique, which is so true, even when she is upset she is still nice about it. Lol. Her uniqueness was described as not being clear cut meaning enjoying a different variety of music, fitness and food. Variety of healthy living is the key to Brandi’s success and she believes it’s the same for everyone's success. Variety ties into eating in moderation, trying different foods, and swapping out your not so healthy foods with healthier options.
