The Ne-Yo Concert at the 2nd Annual Hartbeat Weekend Hosted by KevinHart

neyo1I had the pleasure to attend the long awaited Ne-Yo concert in Atlantic City at the House of Blues this weekend. As a Ne-Yo fanatic, I didn't expect anything less than a great show which he gave with flying colors. If anyone loved Ne-Yo from day one, it was because he put out great music with content that we can relate to. Ne-Yo admitted during the show that his more recent music did not excel like his first three albums but his talent, love and appreciation of music and his fans runs much deeper than his nonsuccess.

DJ Webstar opened the show with party music from the 80's up to the 2000's with songs that set the atmosphere like Poison, Candy Girl, and Pony. Next up was Sevyn Streeter's DJ who had us partying with present hits before bringing out Sevyn Streeter. Sevyn and her two dancers put on one hell of a show as well. She performed her songs "I Like it", "B.A.N.S.", "It Won't Stop", and "Next." They also danced to "Loyal" by Chris Brown.

neyo5The crowd went crazy when Ne-Yo stepped on stage opening with his songs "Champaign Life", "Knock You Down", and "Clap for Her". Ne-Yo remains humble, just as I imagined, and informed the audience that his shows are all about the music. And he was absolutely right! His band did one thing! They definitely kept the tempo up throughout Ne-Yo's set. Ne-Yo also told us his stories behind certain songs which gave great insight into how he is so good at what he does; writing relatable music...

Ne-Yo performed he debut single "So Sick" from his album "In My Own Words" which brought back so many memories of where I was during 2006. He also performed "Do You" and "Sexy Love" which are two of my favs from him. Ne-Yo is also a songwriter for many artists and hits, and to introduce the audience to that role he performed "Let Me Love You" by Mario and "Irreplaceable" by Beyonce with the help from Candice, an upcoming artist found by Ne-Yo and Compound Ent. Candice with her great vocals gave us a taste of some of her work when she performed "Lesbian." Now the title doesn't give the entire concept of the song away but the content of the song is relatable. Look out for her she definitely has what it takes.

neyo2Ne-Yo has an album coming out, 11-11-14 named Non Fiction. He gave us a sample of the album with his song named "She Knows" featuring Juicy J which has a mix of a down south feel, R&B, and Pop. In my opinion, I'm actually excited about the new album. I feel like he is learning himself and tapping into that old Ne-Yo back in 2006-08. Ne-Yo continued the show with "Independent Woman", "One in a Million", "Because of You", "Nobody", "Money Can't Buy", "Closer", and ended with "Tonight". All in all, a great show from beginning to end. I cannot miss another one of his shows. This one was well worth it in the end but now I'm eager for more! Don't forget 11-11-14- Non Fiction!
