$1 Million for Youth Crime Prevention in Philadelphia

Philadelphia; the City of Brotherly Love…yea, not so much. As one of the most violent, high crime cities, Philadelphia has been in need of crime control for quite some time. On Sept 29,2014 , Mayor Nutter made an announcement proving that concerns around violence are no longer being over looked.

The city of Philadelphia will be awarded 3 grants to help turn things around, and hopefully continue down the path of reducing violence, particularly among our youth.
provide s a clear breakdown of how the funds are to be allocated
“The grants are the following:
• $600,000 for the School Justice Collaboration Program: Keeping Kids in School and Out of Courts for the School Diversion Program;
• $227,430 from the Corporation for National Community Service Collaboration on the Youth Opportunity Corps for expansion of PowerCorpsPHL;
• And $100,000 for the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention for expansion of Philadelphia’s Youth Violence Prevention Collaborative, which is centralized to North Philadelphia's 22nd police district: “
“Philadelphia is ready to make a change for the better," Nutter said during a news conference in City Hall, according to Philly.com
