Let me start off by saying that I am in no way, shape, or form a makeup guru, a makeup artist, or a makeup connoisseur. However, my makeup collection is extensive; it's one of my guilty pleasures. I do love and have a passion for fashion and makeup because they go hand in hand. If you love to look good with clothes, you'll also love to look good with makeup. Of course makeup isn't for everyone, but I feel that everyone can benefit from some form of makeup every once in a while, if you can't settle for everyday. Not meaning a "beat face" every day, but a tinted moisturizer, mascara, and a gloss can go a lonnng way. I hate hearing "makeup is for ugly girls" or "I don't need makeup". Makeup is not meant to make you pretty or to change your face. It's there to enhance your qualities, cover your small imperfections (like skin discoloration) , and enhance your beauty.
Not everyone will have a like for makeup, a knack for it, or an eye for it. Sometimes makeup just isn't for everyone. When I think about this I'm reminded of that commercial when that mom tries to attempt the smoky eye and her kids look at her crazy lol. I've been interested in makeup since high school and ever since my mom let me indulge, I have been. She, however only let me wear lip gloss, eyeliner, and mascara in high school. But when prom time came around I went all in with foundation, lipstick, lashes, the whole nine.
I can admit, I have made some fashion and makeup mistakes. So annoyed at the thought of the white eyeliner on the lid phase. But I've always loved makeup. When I go out it gives me a chance to "get pretty" and BEAT face! What girl doesn't like to get pretty?!?! Give me a reason to and I'm all for it. My favorite thing to play up are my lips. I absolutely love a bold lippy! And because I do a good job on my make-up I'm always asked for advice and I love to lend it. It brings me pleasure to talk about fashion and makeup. So here's me lending some advice. Lets get into it:

Do get a makeup consultation. If the makeup artist is good (shade lol), with a consultation you'll get a clear sense of what works and does not work for you.
Do the work to find the perfect shade of foundation for your skin-tone. And get familiar with the different types. Be familiar with what coverage is and what type of coverage you are looking for. Also, be aware of what time of season you're buying foundation because what works for the winter will not work in the summer after you tan. FYI in the summer only a SPF tinted moisturizer is best because you DO NOT want to be hot in the summer with tons of foundation on melting in the sun.
Do have fun with makeup and do not be afraid to try it or try certain looks.
Do what works for you, what works for others may not work for you.
Do check out other brands! You do not have to wear only expensive brands. You do not have to only shop at MAC or Sephora you can dibble and dabble in lower end drugstore brands and get everything in some products that you'll get from expensive brands. I was a die hard MAC girl, but when you look at it that stuff adds up. So don't shy away from makeup because you think it's too expensive!
Do be conscious and honest about what works for you and what does not! Every made up looks, shade of makeup, eyeshadow, lipstick, foundation, etc DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYBODY.
DONTS
Don't be afraid of trying makeup. Get down the keys to application and you're good to go!
Don't be afraid of failing to pull a look off. Make up is trial and error because you won't be perfect the first time. Although once you get the hang of it, you'll love it!
Don't be afraid of getting on the makeup artist nerves at MAC or Sephora ask questions. If you don't know something, that's what they are there for!
Don't be afraid to try on makeup, go to the makeup artists. Have them apply it and while they apply it, listen to what they say and tips they give. Remember always, if you're new to something its a learning process.
Don't get discouraged practice makes perfect!
Don't be afraid to step out with your makeup looks! Remember CONFIDENCE is Key!
Enjoy getting prettier! And have fun doing it!!
