I remember the first time I ever heard the soulful, joyful, and angelic voice of Marsha Ambrosius … it was back in 2002, when my dad brought home the Floetic album by Floetry. He said “someone gave this to me at work and these girls are BAD! Give them a listen.” And ever since that moment, I’ve been rocking out with her… first as a Floetry fan and now as a true Marshian lol.

Marsha Ambrosius released her first solo album, Late Nights and Early Mornings, back in March of 2011, selling 96,400 copies in her first week of sales. In addition, her album debuted at number 2 on the BillBoard 200 list (iTunes) . Since 2011, fans of Ms. Ambrosius have been patiently and anxiously waiting for her sophomore album to release. In March 2014, she teased us with the release of her Fxck and Love EP mixtape, along with her Friends and Lovers tour (which I had the pleasure of attending twice, and meeting her in person as well )

On July 15th, the wait was over and Friends and Lovers album was released to the world. Let me just say that it was well worth the wait and it has put me and I’m sure other fans too, on a musical high ever since the release. The album is a collaboration of sexy, soulful, sensual, and real all in one. Marsha paints perfect pictures in your imagination as you take a ride on a journey that explores friendship, feelings, temptation, honesty, lust, desire, relationships, and love. Marsha has always been comfortable and in tune with sharing her emotions and life experiences and on this album, as ever other work of hers… she delivers it effortlessly. If you haven’t already purchased the album, I encourage you to do so. Just be prepared for your emotions to go on a rollercoaster ride while you listen (Warning: thoughts of missing your ex may arise, while some crying can occur, and possible baby making as well ;-) ) Friends and Lovers can be purchased on iTunes, at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and at your local music stores. In addition to the album, Marsha will be in concert with John Legend from July 22nd to August 9th. Check out ticketmaster to see if she’s coming to a city near you.
