Temple University Researchers Successfully Eliminate HIV Virus In HumanCells

Have y’all heard the great news? Philadelphia’s own Temple University has molecular tools that have successfully taken HIV out of a cell in a cellular lab. Currently, HIV treatment is only suppressing the virus but any interruption in treatment the virus begins to replicate again. Refer back to JAE’s HIV article for more details. This ground breaking success will open up so many doors to eliminating HIV and other viruses and possibly introduce a vaccine to prevent the HIV virus. When I saw this video, I got chills. Like really?! A chance to eradicate (destroy) the HIV virus from humans with the cure right from my hometown?! It’s such a great feeling! My heart seriously goes out to people and their families that are infected by the virus. It’s definitely a game changer with a lot of stigma, guilt, and anger that can come with this virus. People find their own way to deal with it and live on with their lives. No matter what the case is, people knowing they are infected have a mental change rather it is good or bad. With that being said, if a cure was to be a discovered I can imagine every single one of their faces and know deep down they will be hopeful and open with a piece of mind.

I don’t know if y’all know how serious and prevalent this HIV virus is? It is among you. You may not know and the people that have it may or may not know it but it is around. That’s why it’s very important to get tested. Every health clinic has the tools to get tested. It may take you to ask about it but they have them. Don’t be ashamed, be aware. It doesn’t have a face, smell, look, taste, or a distinct symptom. The HIV virus is very smart and imitates the cell and takes over it in a very slick way. Some people say that there is a cure out there already and people want to make money off of this virus which can very much be true. The virus has a lot of funding, programs aimed towards it, and medication that cost a fortune. But this method that Temple found is great news! They may find a way to make money off of this too but its one step in the right direction.
